⚡ Severe Storms

Make a Five-Minute Storm Grab List

When a severe thunderstorm warning arrives, the hard part should not be finding a flashlight or shoes. Keep a compact list where everyone sees it.

Include medication, glasses, pet leads, charged phones, flashlights and weather alerts. Identify an interior room away from windows for severe wind threats.

Practice gathering essential items calmly on a clear day. Do not spend time collecting possessions when immediate shelter is needed.

The safest response to nearby thunder is prompt shelter in a substantial building or enclosed hard-topped vehicle. Avoid windows, plumbing and corded electrical devices during close lightning.
